Moroccan king orders use of military medical facilities to fight COVID-19 outbreak

Moroccan King Mohammed VI on Sunday ordered the military to turn over all its medical facilities and staff, as part of the government's response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The king has urged the civil and military doctors to work in harmony and share intelligence, in the battle to protect the health of Moroccans and foreigners in Morocco, the Moroccan Royal cabinet said in a statement.

The Moroccan army has recently created and equipped medical facilities in various regions of the country to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Morocco declared on Sunday an one-month state of medical emergency, as the number of COVID-19 cases in the country climbed to 115.

The North African country has closed all its land and sea borders, and suspended all domestic and international passenger flights over COVID-19 concerns.
