Ukraine on Monday urged Russia to stop interfering in its internal affairs in response to Moscow's calls on Kiev to establish a federal form of government.

"We consider such statements as rude and naked interference in our internal affairs," Foreign Ministry spokesman Eugene Perebiynis told reporters.

Perebiynis urged Kremlin to focus on developing their own statehood and protecting the rights of the national minorities who live in Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Sunday proposed Kiev move to federalization and give the Russian language the status of Ukraine's second state language as a way to solve the political crisis.
