Suspended death penalty for Vietnamese drug trafficker

A court in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region sentenced a Vietnamese woman to death with a two year reprieve for trafficking more than four kilograms of drugs.

Nguyen Thi Hung was convicted of trafficking 4.2 kg of heroin from Vietnam to China, Fangchenggang city's Intermediate People's Court ruled on Tuesday.

She was caught on Nov. 2, 2011 when she smuggled the drugs into China's Dongxing City from Moncay in Vietnam. Local police nabbed her with the drugs, which were in a paper box, in a taxi, the court said.
