Chinese mainland's Taiwan affairs chief on Thursday expressed hope that New Taipei City would continue to deepen cooperation with mainland cities, so as to create a win-win situation.

Zhang Zhijun, chief of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks while meeting with New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu.

Zhang said that New Taipei City had already conducted close cooperation with mainland cities in many fields, including trade, agriculture, education, health care and environmental protection, with increasing grassroots exchanges and communication among young people from both sides.

"I took New Taipei as the first stop to know more about the construction of the city and lives of ordinary people," Zhang said.

During the meeting, Chu briefed Zhang on the city's development and administration, and accompanied Zhang to a public senior nursing center.

Zhang started his four-day visit on Wednesday, and held a formal meeting with Wang Yu-chi, Taiwan's mainland affairs chief, in Taoyuan. It was the second formal meeting between the chiefs of cross-Strait affairs from the mainland and Taiwan.
