A fatal fire that broke out on Friday in a village in east China's Shandong Province was the result of arson, local police said Tuesday.

A police investigation into the tent fire on a farm in Dujiatuan Village, Pingdu City, found that 4 local residents set the fire deliberately.

One person was killed and three others were injured in the blaze that broke out at about 2 a.m. on Friday.

The four were found to be directed by a man surnamed Wang, who received order from a real estate developer and a village head, according to the police.

All the 7 suspects were under criminal detention. Further investigation is underway.

Since last year, frequent disputes over land requisition have occurred in the village.
