Paper folding may be simply be child's play for most, but this young man got himself conditional offer from an ideal college because of his passion for the craftsmanship.

Harbin Institute of Technology’s (HIT’s) branch school in Weihai, east China’s Shandong Province just granted Sun Hongtao a conditional offer, a 60-point window below the school’s admission score.

Sun is a paper folding amateur from Jinan, Shandong Province.

The young man has dug deep into this art, applying mathematics, spatial structure knowledge into his work in order to reach optimal solutions, which totally complies with the concept defining the major he applied – Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation.

Sun finished each piece of his works using only square paper, making it hard to shape the object. But Sun has always been patient: He could spend 20 hours on a phoenix with a 70x70-square-centimeter paper.
