Could Derek Chauvin get a new trial?

The lawyer for convicted murderer Derek Chauvin has requested a new trial and may appeal his conviction. Jury misconduct is among the grounds which Chauvin’s attorney says his client should be re-tried.

Some legal experts believe a photo of a Black juror attending last summer’s BLM march on Washington, D.C. could be used by the defense. The image shows juror Brandon Mitchell, who is Black,wearing a t-shirt with the words, "Get Your Knee Off Our Necks," the name of the march itself. Chauvin, an ex-cop, was convicted for the murder of George Floyd.
