An attack by the Taliban on Monday left around 16 people dead in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.
The attack took place in a housing complex, which had many international organizations and where many foreign nationals lived and worked. The episode also led the residents demanding that the compound be moved.
The timing of the attack coincided with Zalmay Khalilzad, the special US envoy for peace in Afghanistan, sharing the draft of peace accord with insurgents in a televised interview.
During the weekend, two episodes of bombings in the northern part of Afghanistan also took place.
The Interior ministry spokesperson Nasrat Rahimi, later informed that the bomb was planted in a tractor parked near the complex. Two armed attackers were also there who were killed by the security forces.
Following the blast, about 400 foreign nationals were evacuated from the area.
