6.8-magnitude quake hits 212 km NW of Auckland Island: USGS

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 jolted 212km NW of Auckland Island, New Zealand at 070001 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 49.495 degrees south latitude and 163.847 degrees east longitude.
