Thai former acting caretaker Prime Minister Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan, together with 32 other prominent political figures, were released on Thursday after being detained for three to seven days.

The individuals, including former members of parliament from the Pheu Thai and Democrat parties and ex-cabinet ministers, were freed on the condition that not to take part in any political activities for the time being.

They were taken from various unidentified military camps in the provinces to the Army Club in capital Bangkok on Thursday afternoon, reported the Bangkok Post on Thursday.

Thai Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha, who was later endorsed as chief of the National Council for Peace and Order, declared a coup last Thursday, and summoned prominent figures, including politicians, scholars, businessmen, among others.
