Govt to provide passport in three days

KATHMANDU: The government is working to deliver passport within three days to the service seekers.

Tabling the ‘Passport Bill, 2018’ in the House of Representatives

meeting today, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali made

the commitment stating that the Bill was presented with the purpose to

provide a passport to the citizens in an accessible manner.

The House meeting has unanimously passed the Bill after Gyawali tabled it.

Gyawali said, “At present, the passport is being made available in a

single day in case of urgency. Now, an initiative has been made to

provide the passport in three maximum days even in a general situation.

This provision shall come into effect immediately.”

Stating that the people’s representatives were not discriminated in

the Bill, he shared that provision has been ensured to provide the

passports without any hassles to all the eligible figures, who can use

the diplomatic passport.

He said that the passport receiving system has been simplified so

that Nepalis would not have to face mistreatment in the airports abroad.

Meanwhile, Minister Gyawali tabled the 58th annual report of fiscal

year 2073/074 of the Public Service Commission on behalf of the Minister

of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

Likewise, Finance Minister Dr Yubraj Khatiwada presented the 55th annual report of the Office of the Auditor General, 2074 BS.

The Upper House shall meet next at 11:00 am on Wednesday.
