Security forces in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan Province arrested 16 foreigners for trying to cross Pakistan-Iran border illegally, local media said early Tuesday.

The foreigners, including 15 Nigerians and one Yemeni national, were en route to Europe via Iran, but got arrested on a tip-off, Geo News said, adding that the security forces also detained two armed local men in the operation conducted in Turbat district of the province.

The arrested people were shifted to some undisclosed location for investigations.

The case happened a day after police arrested a drug trafficker from the country's eastern Punjab Province, who was accused of sending people to Europe illegally.

Earlier, 20 bodies were found in Turbat and believed to be laborers from the Punjab in two separate incidents. Police said the deceased wanted to enter Europe via Iran illegally, but terrorist elements in Balochistan gunned them down.
