Travel website TripAdvisor has released the results of its Travellers’ Choice Awards for the most romantic hotels in the world, based on reviews from the millions of users who shared their opinions on the site over the past year.

Topping the list for Asia was the Komandoo Maldives Island Resort, which ranked #5 on the World’s Most Romantic list. Travellers voted Hong Kong’s Hotel Icon as the most romantic hotel in China

Southeast Asia dominated the Asia list, with six properties in the top 10. No Hong Kong hotels made it into the global top 10 or the Asian top 10.

Travellers did, though, rate Hotel Icon in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, as China’s most romantic hotel. "It’s like you can instantly tell that as a hotel they have looked at everything that guests want and don't want and have strived to go one better," said one reviewer.

The Yangshuo Tea Cozy in Yangshuo, China came in second, and The Peninsula in Hong Kong ranked third in China.
