Expert: US-China trade friction brings uncertainties to Asia's economy

Trade friction between the United States and China might cause economic fluctuations in Asia, which is a major risk for the bloc, said Fan Gang, director of China’s National Institute of Economic Research, at Boao Forum for Asia on Monday.

According to Fan, different countries in Asia are connected in an industrial chain. For example, the products exported from China to the US contain lots of components imported from Asian countries, like display panels from South Korea, parts from Japan, and resources from ASEAN countries.

“China is an integral part of the entire trade chain of Asia, therefore China-US trade friction will impact the whole area,” Fan said.
