Indonesia to welcome 1,500 Chinese tourists celebrating New Year eve

JAKARTA, Jan. 26 (APD) — Indonesia has confirmed the visit of 1,500 tourists from China to celebrate Chinese New Year eve in resort island of Bali next month as preparation to hold a grand celebration was underway at present.

The confirmation was following the recent visit of Indonesia Tourism Minister Arief Yahya to Beijing, aimed at promoting destinations in Indonesia and readiness of Bali to host the event, Assistant Deputy Minister for Asia Pacific Marketing Development Vincensius Jemadu said in a recent statement.

Jemadu added that eagerness of Chinese tourists to celebrate the New Year Eve in Bali was significantly contributed by

China Consulate General office in Bali which has actively recommended Bali as the place to celebrate Chinese New Year eve this year.

He added that the consulate general office would jointly take part in organizing the events related to Chinese New Year celebration in Bali which slated to commence on Feb. 15.

The China consulate general office would invite 20 Chinese performers for the celebration party in Bali, Jemadu said, adding that performers from Indonesia would also feature in the events.

“We have arrange a gala dinner for those tourists during the event,” Jemadu said.

He added that the ministry takes serious attention to host the Chinese New Year Eve celebration. He said the ministry has placed placements in Chinese mainstream media as well as online media to promote the event.

Besides that, gatherings with representatives of Chinese travel agents and media in China have been scheduled for this month, among others in Beijing, Nanning and Guangzhou, as part of the efforts.

Indonesia Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said in different occasion that Chinese New Year eve celebration would be a great momentum to regain the dominating visit of Chinese tourists in Bali after the volcano eruption events in the island.

The minister was scheduled to go back to China again to have meetings with officials of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) after his recent visit to Thailand’s Chiang Mai to attend ASEAN Tourism Forum.
