ASEAN schools games kick off in Philippines

ItisthefirsttimethatthePhilippineshoststhisevent.

Apartfromprovidingtheyouthwithopportunitiestoshowcasetheirsportingtalents,theASGpromotessolidarityandfostersculturalexchangeamongtheyouthofparticipatingcountries,saidArminLuistro,secretaryoftheDepartmentofEducation(DepEd)ofPhilippines.

Theannualschoolevent,whichwillrunthroughDec.7,featuresstudentathletesfromBrunei,Indonesia,Singapore,Malaysia,Thailand,Laos,Vietnam,andthePhilippines.

Participantswillcompetein11sports,namelyathletics,swimming,badminton,golf,tennis,sepaktakraw,gymnastics,tabletennis,basketball,volleyballandwushu.
