Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro welcomed Colombia's new ambassador-designate Armando Benedetti to Venezuela on Monday.

"We are peoples with a glorious history of rebellion and freedom, united in the deep Bolivarian brotherhood. May our union be unbreakable!" Maduro tweeted.

Colombia and Venezuela have restored full diplomatic relations after a three-year break.

Maduro and Gustavo Petro, Colombia's new president, announced on August 11 that they planned to restore diplomatic relations, which were severed in 2019.

Petro said he would work with the Venezuelan government on several issues, including fighting rebel groups along the border between the countries.
