DPRK accuses U.S. film of insulting its leadership

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday blasted a U.S. film it said insulted its supreme leadership, the official KCNA news agency reported.

"The U.S. has gone reckless in such provocative hysteria as bribing a rogue movie maker to dare hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK," a foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement.

"A preview of a film on insulting and assassinating the supreme leadership of the DPRK is floating in broad daylight in the U.S., a kingpin of international terrorism, shocking the world community," the statement read.

It said the film was the U.S.'s most undisguised act of terrorism and a war action aimed at bringing down the DPRK's social system; a revelation of its fear and a last-ditch effort.

If the U.S. administration connived at and patronized the screening of the film, it would invite a strong and merciless countermeasure, it said.

The statement, however, did not name or reveal content details of the film.

A Hollywood comedy, named "The Interview", which depicts an assassination attempt on the DPRK's top leader, Kim Jong Un, is reportedly to be released in October.
