Karachi Kings' bid to make it to the final of the Pakistan Super League received a dent as Shahid Afridi was ruled out of the eliminator against Peshawar Zalmi on Wednesday (March 21). The all-rounder has missed a fair number of games this season because of a knee injury, and will have to miss the all-important clash after not recovering sufficiently from the persistent swelling.

Very disappointed at missing the match today. Like last yr PSL final in Lahore I won't be able to play due to injury in Pakistan. I wish Kings the very best, hope that we have another thrilling match and a win for Kings.

Mukhtar Ahmed, Zulfiqar Babar and Danish Aziz have joined the squad while Imad Wasim's participation is still in doubt. Wasim suffered a concussion after injuring himself while taking a catch in the clash against Lahore Qalandars on March 11. Wasim ran backwards from mid off to take a catch of Sohail Khan. While he did complete a superb catch, he fell down and hit his head on the ground. He lay there for quite some time and got the attention of the medical staff before being stretched off the field.

With Eoin Morgan refusing to travel to Pakistan for the final leg of the tournament, and if Wasim is ruled out as well, Ravi Bopara will lead the side against Darren Sammy and his men. Karachi will also miss the services of Tamim Iqbal who picked up a knee injury in the T20I tri-series in Sri Lanka.

Karachi finished second in the table after five wins from ten games. They then lost the Qualifier to Islamabad United on Sunday.
