Chinese Consulate General in Vietnam celebrates China’s National Day

The Chinese Consulate General in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City hosted a reception here on Tuesday night to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, with participation of over 300 representatives from Chinese and Vietnamese authorities, businesses, universities, media as well as foreign diplomatic corps.

Addressing at the reception to celebrate China’s National Day, which falls on October 1, Acting Consul General Zhou Tong emphasized: “Over the past 66 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, together with the unity of all Chinese people, China has achieved many great economic achievements. Particularly, China’s GDP reached 7,600 U.S. dollars, while the total economic output accounted for 13% of the world’s. China has become the world’s second largest economy, the largest trading nation, the largest manufacturing and the largest foreign exchange reserves.” Zhou said China is confident and capable of overcoming the current difficulties to achieve the main socioeconomic development targets this year.

Zhou emphasized that this year also marks the 65 years of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam. With joint efforts of both sides, China and Vietnam are maintaining good development trends, while cooperation in all fields between Chinese localities and Vietnamese ones in general, Ho Chi Minh City in particular has been increasingly strengthened. Both sides are actively promoting the Chinese initiatiatives of “The One Belt, One Road” and "The Two Corridors, One Economic Belt".

He believed that both China and Vietnam will continue to follow the 16-character guiding principle and the spirit of "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, and good partners," constantly developing the bilateral relations.

Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Nguyen Thi Hong, expressed her belief that China will continue harvesting greater achievements in materializing the goals of national construction and development, making significant contributions to peace, stability, development and prosperity of the region and the world at large.

She said since the establishment of the diplomatic ties 65 years ago, friendship and cooperation have been the mainstream and valuable assets of the two peoples. The friendly ties between Ho Chi Minh City and Chinese localities have been constantly consolidated across a wide range of areas.
