DANDONG, China, June 13 (Xinhua) -- China's first orienteering event since the COVID-19 pandemic began was held on Saturday in the country's northeastern city of Dandong.

With the country having largely brought the COVID-19 pandemic under control, Chinese authorities allowed sporting competitions to resume on May 29.

Competitor Yao Yong said, "I kept running during the COVID-19 epidemic. The feeling of coming back to the forest is so nice! I didn't like running or hiking before, but when I first discovered orienteering in 2017, I fell in love with the sport." ■
