Pilot killed in crash at Italian air show

A Eurofighter jet performing in an air show in Terracina, south of Rome, crashed into the sea on Sunday afternoon local time, killing the pilot, reported Italy's state TV.

Based on the several videos that have already emerged on social media, the pilot, Capt. Gabriele Orlandi, was unable to recover the aircraft at the end of a loop and didn't attempt to eject from the jet.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
