Japanese warships visit Sri Lanka

Two Japanese warships arrived in Sri Lanka's port of Colombo on Wednesday on a goodwill and replenishment visit, the navy said.

The minesweepers, "Uraga" and "Takashima," arrived for a four-day visit and were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions.

Commander of the 51st Minesweeper Division, Captain Toshihiro Takaiwa, and Commanding Officers of the ships, Commander Shunichiro Kachi and Lieutenant Masanori Nakai, paid a courtesy call on Sri Lankan Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo.

Both sides held cordial discussions on matters of mutual interest and bilateral importance.
