China hopes ASEAN will mediate in Myanmar situation

Chinese Sate Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday said China hopes the Association of SoutheastAsianNations (ASEAN)Leaders Special Meeting will help de-escalate Myanmar's current situation and send out positive messages to the outside world.

Wang made the remarks in two separate phone calls with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Bruneian Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Erywan bin Pehin Yusof.
