Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) on Thursday reported one more COVID-19 case, taking the total number of the confirmed cases to 1,051.
The new case involving a 63-year-old man was another local infection after two reported on Wednesday, head of the CHP's Communicable Disease Branch Chuang Shuk-kwan said at a press conference.
Hong Kong had reported zero local infection for 23 consecutive days as of Tuesday.
The new COVID-19 patient is the husband of a 66-year-old woman diagnosed on Wednesday, according to Chuang.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government's Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan said the new local infections showed the transmission chain has not been stopped completely and more virus tests are needed, stressing that the government will expand the virus tests to more high-risk people.
There are still 39 COVID-19 patients in the hospital in Hong Kong, with one in critical condition.
