BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The compilation and review of the government's annual economic and social development plan and the budgets have been proceeding orderly, an official of China's top legislature said Saturday.

Li Mingzhi, a member of the Financial and Economic Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said the report and the draft of the economic and social development plan for 2020, as well as the budget report and draft will be submitted to this year's NPC session, postponed to late May by the COVID-19 epidemic.

The documents have been revised since February in accordance with China's work on coordinating epidemic control and economic and social development, with an eye on the domestic and overseas situations the country faces, especially the pandemic development, Li said.

Adjustments have been made to the main targets, major policy direction and main tasks and measures for the economic and social development in 2020, with corresponding adjustments made to budget arrangements, Li said.

The adjustments fully respect economic rules and are fact-based, Li said.

After approval, they will play their roles in the country's efforts to secure a decisive victory in eradicating poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, Li added. ■
