Experts at a Chinese think tank say China will surpass the United States both socially and economically by 2049 - the year the People's Republic of China will celebrate its centennial anniversary.

According to a report released on Tuesday by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China's economy will surpass the U.S. as long as it nurtures sound "national health."

The Academy's report defines "national health" in terms of both resource supply and wealth distribution.

According to the Academy, China's national health has been better than America's since 2007, which it believes will further expand in 2019, when China is expected to become the world's biggest economy.

It says China's national health is growing due to its relative strength in the global economic downturn, as well as its capacity for swift regulation.

In contrast, the report claims America's health is deteriorating with that economic downturn, despite still being a nation of wealth and power.

But warns China's weak innovation, social inequality and corruption still pose major challenges to its future as a global power.

The report includes assessments of the national health of 100 countries, analyzing factors such as natural and economic immunity, national decision-making and enforcement capacity.

Countries were classified into four groups based on their national health.

China ranking 11th with a national health status of "up to standard"...

While the U.S., Japan and Britain were classified as "health deficient" along with 37 other countries.

Sweden, Finland and Australia ranked within the top 10, with a status of "surplus health."
