An Indonesia's Sriwijaya Air flight with over 50 passengers on board lost contact with air traffic controllers after taking off from Jakarta on Saturday, according to Indonesian media.
The plane was reportedly a Boeing 737-500. The flight was en route from Jakarta to Pontianak.
Authorities with the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport said the plane took off from the airport at 1:30 p.m. local time.
The plane lost more than 10,000 feet of altitude in less than one minute, about four minutes after departure from Jakarta, based on airspeed and altitude data on FlightRadar24.
Sriwijaya Air said in a statement it is still gathering more detailed information regarding the flight before it can make any statement.
