A 21-member troupe of Chinese artists from Soochow University in southeastern China's Suzhou City has performed a variety of Chinese arts here and triggered zeal from Cambodian spectators.
"It was an amazing and colorful performance, artists are very talented," Phal Sreymean, a student at Asia Euro University, said after watching the troupe's performance at the China Cultural Mansion in Phnom Penh on Saturday evening.
"I long to see more Chinese performance," said the student.
Supported by the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia, the free cultural event was held to mark the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the Chinese artists have amused Cambodian audience with a variety of Chinese dances, songs and operas.
Each of the performances had drawn hearty rounds of applause from the audience.
"I can't stop praising the artists, they are very talented," said a high school student Peng Vanheng, 17, adding that it was his first time to see Chinese artists' performance by his own eyes.
He said such cultural event was vital to further enhance people- to-people relations between Cambodia and China and gave chance to Cambodians to learn more about China's richness in culture and arts.
"I hope that there will be more Chinese art performances in Cambodia so that more Cambodians will be able to enjoy the unique features of Chinese culture and arts by their own eyes."
The Chinese artists from Soochow University have begun a week- long performance in Cambodia on Thursday, when they staged at the Chaktomuk Theatre to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Confucius Institute and performed at the Diamond Island Hall on Friday to celebrate the 65th anniversary of China's National Day.
The troupe is also scheduled to perform in the cultural Siem Reap city of Cambodia.
Speaking during watching the show on Thursday, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona said, "The performance will contribute to further broadening cultural relations between Cambodia and China."
