MANILA – Chinese Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires Tan Qingsheng said from a small group of 50 members in 1921, it has become the world’s largest Marxist ruling party with 95 million members.

Speaking at the online Forum on the Role of the Communist Party of China sponsored by the Association for Philippines China Understanding (APCU), Charge Tan said transformation has taken place under the leadership of the Party.

“Under the leadership of the CPC, China has achieved its industrialization in just a few decades that took development Western countries several centuries, hailed as ‘the greatest economic revolution in the history of mankind,’” said Charge Tan at an online forum entitled “Celebrating the Centenary Anniversary of the Communist Party of China.”

In his remarks entitled “Role of the Communist Party of China in the Making of Modern China,” Charge Tan said the country’s leadership has worked hard for the common good of the world and strongly committed to building a community “with a shared future for mankind.”

He added China now stands as the world’s second largest economy and largest trader of goods. He said there are 30,000 kilometers of high-speed train lines which is more than two-thirds of the world’s total.

Charge Tan added the government lifted over 800 million people from poverty which is more than 70 percent of the global total and has made great contribution to the world poverty reduction program.
