Protesters call for imprisoned Karachi mayor to be freed

Supporters of Karachi's newly elected mayor Waseem Akhter rallying to demand his release from prison in Pakistan's largest city on Sunday.

Akhter has been discharging his mayoral duties from a jail cell, where he has been held for inciting riots in 2007 and allegedly providing medical care to terrorists. He is the first person in Pakistan to have won a mayoral election from prison with a comfortable margin. The polls were held last month.
