Ved Prakash Vaidik, a New Delhi-based journalist, who kicked up row in India for meeting Pakistan's Jamat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan Tuesday, triggered another controversy for his independent Kashmir remarks.

Vaidik, an associate of India's yoga guru Baba Ramdev told a Pakistani Television channel Dawn News, there was no harm if Kashmir is made independent.

The video footage of the interview was run by Indian news channels during the day.

Vaidik told channel that both India and Pakistan should stop fighting over Kashmir and make it an independent nation.

Earlier, Vaidik made headlines for his meeting with Saeed in Pakistan's Lahore city. Saeed is described by India as the mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attacks that claimed 166 lives including foreigners.

The Congress party has launched its scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over Vaidik's travel to Pakistan, alleging BJP must have been aware of the meeting.

The Congress party said Vaidik had met Saeed as an emissary of BJP.

However, BJP rejects allegations by Congress party and distances itself from the journalist's visit.

The Indian Parliament was Tuesday adjourned following pandemonium over the issue.

India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday told parliament that the government has nothing to do with Vaidik's meet with Saeed.

"Categorically and unequivocally I would like to state, that the government has nothing to do with Mr. Vaidik's meet with Hafiz Saeed," Swaraj told lower house of Indian parliament (Lok Sabha) to subside opposition.
