Sri Lanka appoints a new Foreign Minister

COLOMBO, August 15 -- Sri Lanka on Tuesday appointed Tilak Marapana as the new Foreign Minister.

Marapana was the Minister of Development Assignments at the time he was appointed Foreign Minister.

He earlier served as the Minister of Law and Order but resigned over allegations he faced in an ongoing case.

Marapana replaces Ravi Karunanayake who resigned recently after he was accused in a treasury bond scam.
