Death toll from Uganda boat accident hits 26

The death toll from a Tuesday boat accident in Lake Albert has hit 26 as search operations continue, AFP reports quoting Uganda health officials on Friday.

The boat capsized while en route to Panyimur market in Pakwach District after it hit strong winds.

Local reports indicate that the boat was at the time carrying more than 50 passengers.

Authorities are working together with local fishermen in the search operation, as more bodies are still believed to be missing.
