Int’l book fair concluded in Pakistan’s Karachi

**ISLAMABAD, Dec. 11 (APD) - **A five-day international book fair concluded in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi on Monday, which witnessed participation of international booksellers and publishers from around the world.

The 13th Karachi International Book Fair (KIBF), organized by the Pakistan Publisher and Booksellers Association, was commenced at the Expo Center in Karachi on December 7 and it continued till December 11.

KIBF is the largest annual book fair in Pakistan and it was attended by regional and international booksellers and publishers, including those based in Iran, India, Turkey, Singapore, China, Malaysia, Britain and the United Arab Emirates.

As many as 330 stalls were set up at the three halls of the Expo Centre to cater one’s literary taste

Chairperson of the Pakistan Publisher and Booksellers Association, Aziz Khalid, said the fair helped Pakistan be included in the fraternity of countries that hold international book fairs.

The event not only provides an opportunity to publishers to showcase their books to the public at large but also helps improve diplomatic ties with other countries, said the chairperson.

According to the reports, some as many as 500,000 book-lovers visited the event as it offered quality books at low prices.

A record sale of the books was also observed on the occasion, the report said.

Besides stalls, the book fair also featured other activities, including learning activities for students and talk shows.
