APD | Is India in a race?

India has surpassed the whole world in violations of Human Rights violations and is also at the top of the list in violations of religious freedom. India is the worst country in rape cases, where the state failed to protect women from rapists, and the legal system was unable to protect women’s rights. Contrarily, the Indian governance system protects rapists and extend relief to rapists.

India has set unmatched records in social discrimination, targeting minorities and low caste Hindus. India is the only country where the official caste system exits, with the lowest caste –untouchables are victims. India crossed all limits to suppress freedom struggles in Punjab, Kashmir, Naga Land, Assam, Bihar, and few other insurgencies. India is the number one country with the highest number of people living below the poverty line.

After being at the first position in all evils, India is set to surpass in number Corona Cases. For the last several days, new infections are reported almost 100,000 each day. Currently, India is at a second position in the number of Corona cases with the total number of patients: 5,560,105 and death toll: 88,965. Just behind the US, which is the worst-hit country with the highest number of Corona Cases: 7,046,216, and a death toll of 204,506. If the same trend of increase in the number of cases persists for two weeks, definitely, India will surpass the US and become the number one country hit by Coronavirus.

Is India in a race? Is India intend to be number one in all negative aspects? Where is the extremist political leadership of India pushing the nation? Intolerance and extremist politics are leading the country to a much bigger disaster. Once upon a time in history, when India was known as a democratic and secular country, but India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, it has turned into a Hindu extremist state, where all non-Hindus are not safe.

Although the COVID-19 is not a fetal virus comparatively, yet is highly contagious. The spread rate is relatively high. It needs extraordinary preventive measures, which include, use of Masks, Sanitizers, keeping a social distance, etc. All these measures are required Government legislations and policies. However, In India, the Government is neither aware of severe challenges nor willing to address this issue. Incompetent rulers with a lack of understanding seem to have no intention to address Pandemic seriously.

The casual attitude of rulers and lack of understanding is a serious threat, as the population as India is around 1.3 billion, almost one-sixth of the world population. Anything wrong in India may reflect the whole world. Especially the neighboring countries are under direct threat. Indian nationals travelling abroad may become carriers and cause the spread of Coronavirus to other countries.

The US and Western World is always very sensitive to issue a travel advisory in similar cases around the world, but are very much reluctant in the case of India. It is well understood that the Western world supports India out of context as their interests are with India. Western World keeps their eyes close and pretends that they might not know the exact threat posed by India, but the danger will not vanish itself and may also harm the Western world, in addition to this region only.

It is time for the regional nations, especially the immediate neighboring countries, having common borders, to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus from India. Travel and Trade may be restricted immediately. Politically India was isolated already and need to quarantine on health issues too. India is emerging a threat to the region, and there are thick clouds of war between India and its all neighbors, and even a much more significant health threat as the number of new infections is rising rapidly.

Regional countries may take a unified stance on Indi and try best to avert any disaster posed by India. There are also chances of Indian threats to destabilize global peace and stability, so the International community may also be sensitized and take precautionary measures.

Although the US and its allies are supporting India blindly to counter China, it might turn on them too and contrarily harm the whole world order. World leaders and sensible nations have to think smartly and visionarily. The aim is only one “ Protect Humanity.”
