The Palestinian Authority announced late Thursday the total cases infected with COVID-19 in the Palestinian territories reached 376.

Ibrahim Melhem, spokesman of the government, told a news briefing in Ramallah that seven new cases were recorded on Thursday in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including two members of the medical teams.

He added that one of the cases is a Palestinian in his early 30s, who works in Israel and returned to the West Bank.

Melhem clarified that the confirmed cases included 282 in the West Bank, 13 in the Gaza Strip and 81 in East Jerusalem.

"We get the number of infected cases in East Jerusalem from the non-government organizations because the Israeli side refused to provide us with the exact figures of the infected cases," Melhem told reporters.

Meanwhile, Fadi al-Hedmi, the Palestinian Authority minister for Jerusalem affairs, told reporters at the news briefing in Ramallah that East Jerusalem "faces dual crises; the first is the occupation measures and the second is coronavirus."

He held Israel fully responsible for hiding information on the infected cases in East Jerusalem, adding that "this would certainly complicate the possibilities of preventing its spread in the eastern part of the city."
