The herd of 14 elephants has moved about two kilometers northeast in China's Yunnan Province after five consecutive days of southward migration. They largely remain in the forest area of Yuxi City. A male elephant, which strayed from the herd over three weeks ago, is 53 kilometers away in the Hongta District. The herd has traveled about 500 kilometers north of its natural habitat. Precautions have been in place to ensure the safety of both the animals and residents.
