FDI RISES 4.88 PCT IN SEPTEMBER

The September FDI data was above August's 8.38 billion dollars, which was up 0.62 percent year on year.

The Ministry of Commerce said that despite economic challenges both home and abroad, China still has "comprehensive advantages" in attracting foreign investment, and that investors' confidence in the country has not changed.

To break down the numbers. FDI into the service sector gained 13.28 percent year on year to 44.7 billion dollars in the first nine months. However, the manufacturing sector only managed to rake in 35.5 billion dollars of FDI, down 3.96 percent from a year ago.

According to the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday, september's FDI inflows reached 8.84 billion U.S. dollars. It means, in the first nine months of this year, FDI totaled 88.6 billion dollars, up 6.22 percent from the same period last year.

Foreign direct investment inflows into the Chinese mainland climbed 4.88 percent in September, compared to a year ago.
