16th Handicraft Fair kicks off in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Nov. 14 – The "16th Handicraft Trade Fair & 14th Craft Competition" kicked-off at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Organized by the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), the five-day fairhas seven pavilions and 172 stalls showcasing handicraft items like ceramics, wood carvings, accessories, woolen clothes, leather items, textile, jewelries, honey, tea, and other items from countries, including Nepal, China, India, and Pakistan.

According to Dharma Raj Shakya, Chairman of the Federation, buyers from China are already in Kathmandu for B2B meetings with the Nepali entrepreneurs.

The fair to be held under the theme of 'Handicraft: Prospect for Prosperity" is expected to promote and enhance Handicraft products and Industry in the country.

According to Shakya, the fair comprises features like seminar/B2B Workshops on current issues of handicraft industry, best stall and best pavilion competition, live demonstration of artisans, best product competition and trend display.

Meanwhile, Hem Ratna Shakya, Immediate Past President of the federation, told APD that they are expecting more than 100 thousand visitors in the exhibition.
