The joint commission on the economy and trade between China and South Korea is back up and running after a two-year hiatus. Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Yan met with South Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Friday in Beijing.

Cho said South Korea will take part in the first China International Import Expo in November. The officials also said talks for a free trade agreement between their countries are entering the second stage. The two sides also agreed to work together to uphold multilateralism and free global trade.

Gao said China has had good economic and trade ties with South Korea since the start of the year, thanks to the foundation laid during South Korean President Moon Jae-in's visit to China late last year.
