At least 15 killed in Madagascar stampede

At least 15 people were killed and 75 others injured on Wednesday in a stampede during an official Independence Day celebration in Madagascar, said authorities.

The incident occurred at the Mahamasina stadium in Antananarivo, Madagascar's capital. It is unclear what had caused the stampede.

The President of Madagascar Andry Rajoelina has offered his condolences to the families of victims during a press conference later in the day at the presidential palace.
