The ongoing militancy and conflicts have claimed the lives of eight people including an ISAF service member in the militancy-plagued Afghanistan on Friday.

A soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) died of non-battle wounds in Afghanistan on Friday, the alliance said in a statement released here.

"We can confirm an International Security Assistance Force service member died as a result of a non-battle injury in eastern Afghanistan today," the ISAF statement said without giving more details.

Although, it didn't reveal the nationality of the victim and exact place of the incident, many Afghans believe that the ongoing militancy could be the reason for the death of the ISAF service member.

The ongoing Taliban-led militancy also claimed the lives of three police in the eastern Kunar province on Friday, police said.

"A mine planted by militants struck a police vehicle in Manogai district of Kunar province this morning killing three police constables on the spot," provincial police chief Abdul Habib Sayedkhili said.

Meantime, Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit in talks with media via telephone from unknown location claimed responsibility and said the mine planted by militants had left four police dead.

On the other hand, security forces during operations against Taliban militants in the eastern Laghman province 90 km east of Afghan capital Kabul killed four militants on Friday, a statement of provincial administration sent to media outlets said.

"Security personnel laid ambush and killed four armed insurgents in Kotator area outside provincial capital Mehterlam early Friday morning and their bodies have been kept in a local hospital," the statement said.

Another militant who received injuries during the operations was arrested, the statement added.

Taliban militants who have been fighting to regain power in Afghanistan are yet to make comment.
