Kenya's COVID-19 infections surpass 95,000 mark

Kenya's number of COVID-19 infections topped the 95,000 mark as the country continues seeing an increase in its caseload.

The ministry of health announced 427 new positive cases from a sample size of 7,593 tests conducted over the past 24 hours.

In a press briefing Minister of Health Mutahi Kagwe also noted that the East African country had recorded one more death to bring the total number of COVID-19 related fatalities to 1,648.

Kenya is one of only eight countries in Africa that have reported more than 90,000 confirmed cases.

The country's caseload is only shadowed by tallies registered by South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Libya and Algeria.

Its death toll is the seventh-highest on the continent.

Kagwe in his briefing also noted that the country's total number of successful recoveries had risen to 76,508 after 286 patients recovered.
