"Using acrobatics, props, cranes and wires, the artist is world renowned for his surprising, dramatic and often amusing performance installation that depicts him in photographs in gravity-defying situations," they said.

West Australian state Tourism Minister Kim Hames said having a respected leading artist such as Li Wei involved with the exhibition will mean even more exposure for Western Australia, and is a sign that Perth is on the international stage.

The artist will be one of 39 international artists taking part in this year's exhibition.

Li Wei will be presenting up to three photo performances during the art exhibition, which ends on March 20.
