At least 10 killed, dozens injured after trains collide in Pakistan

At least ten people were killed and 85 others injured when a passenger train collided with a freight train in Walhar near Pakistan's Sadiqabad on Thursday morning, reported local media.

The passenger train was heading to southwest Quetta city from eastern Lahore when it collided with the freight train at the Walhar railway station in Rahim Yar Khan of Punjab province, according to the reports.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the country's minister for railways told TV channel Aaj that an investigation had been launched to determine the causes of the incident.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has offered his condolences to the families of the victims, asking the railway minister to take emergency steps to counter decades of neglect of railway infrastructure and ensure safety standards.
