The Philippine Bureau of Customs ( BOC) alerted on Tuesday its personnel to keep a close watch for any attempt to smuggle illegal drugs contained in bottled water into the country through major ports and airports.

Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon issued the directive in light of the viral video at You Tube showing a new smuggling technique where a sachet of "shabu" was concealed in a bottle of mineral water.

The smuggling of illegal drugs through a bottle of mineral water has not happened yet in the Philippines, Biazon said.

He cited that in the past, the BOC operatives were able to seize kilos of shabu concealed in false walls of luggage, stuffed toy or in any item traffickers think would not be noticed.

He also advised travelers not to accept any request to bring along packages in their trips, if they haven't seen their contents, especially if the person making the request is one not personally known to them.
