South Korea has sent special envoys to China, Germany, Japan, Russia and the US to bolster ties as tensions mount on the Korean Peninsula.

According to Yonhap New Agency, Seoul's special envoy to Moscow, Song Young-gil, said South Korean President Moon Jae-in is in favor of re-starting the six-party talks on the DPRK. But this will be contingent on how both the DPRK and the US approach the potential for renewed dialogue.

Song also said the deployment of the controversial THAAD missile system in South Korea by the US still needs Parliament's green light.
