4th World Green Development Investment and Trade Expo held in Jiangxi

The 4th World Green Development Investment and Trade Expo kicked off in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province on November 25.

Previously called “The World Low Carbon and Eco-economy Conference & Technical Exposition”, the expo has been upgraded by the State Council this year and Jiangxi will be its permanent location.

Government officials from various countries, scholars and entrepreneurs attended the theme forum at the expo, and discussed several issues concerning green development.

Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Zhengwei said in his address that “green development makes a better world” is the theme of the expo. With the joint efforts of all representatives at the event, the expo will discuss new trends of world green development, share new opportunities of green investment and trade, explore new ways of international ecological cooperation, express China’s new concept of green development and showcase the latest achievement of Jiangxi.

New Zealand’s former prime minister Jenny Shipley indicated in her address that New Zealand attaches great importance to the concept of green development, and has obtained notable experience and results in the field of carbon emission and green finance. She hoped that through an international cooperative mechanism, New Zealand and China will strive for the harmonious development of economy and environment together.

VR display shows Jiangxi’s unique landscape

The expo is divided into five display sections, including “The Ecology of Jiangxi”, “International Exchange”, “Low-Carbon Recycling”, “New Energy” and “Intelligent Industry”. The section dedicated to Jiangxi uses state-of-the-art VR technology to present Jiangxi’s accomplishments in green development, offering a refreshing interactive experience for visitors.

World-class LED lighting innovative technology

Opto-electronics industry is a key field of development in Jiangxi. Nanchang Optical Valley demonstrates preeminent innovative capability in this field. As an outstanding example of innovation, the valley applies the advanced silicon substrate technology in their products, which has paved a new road for the development of LED lighting, pushing forward technical improvement in the industry.

Other cutting edge technologies in aviation and automobile industries as well as modern agriculture are also displayed.

Jiangxi’s provincial party secretary Lu Xinshe explained Jiangxi’s understanding and positioning of green development and green industrial collaboration in his keynote speech. Lu said Jiangxi will seize the opportunity, further open up to the world, promote the idea that “nature is the true treasure” and make China’s voice heard.

165 projects are expected to be signed at the expo, amounting to approximately 242.8 billion yuan (US$ 35.2 billion).
