U.S. presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has retaken the lead from Hillary Clinton in two key swing states of Florida and Pennsylvania, though still lags behind the former State of Secretary nationally, according to polls issued Wednesday.
Trump now leads Clinton, 42 to 39 percent in Florida and 43 to 41 percent in Pennsylvania, shows a new Quinnipiac University poll. Last month, Clinton led Trump 47 to 39 percent in Florida and 42 to 41 percent in Pennsylvania.
The pair remains tied in another swing state of Ohio, where Trump will be formally nominated at the Republican national convention in Cleveland next week. Trump and Clinton each get 41 percent there, says the Quinnipiac Univ. poll.
However, Hillary Clinton holds a three-point lead over Donald Trump nationally, shows a new McClatchy-Marist poll which was also released Wednesday.
The McClatchy-Marist poll finds Clinton has 42 percent support, with Trump at 39 percent in a head-to-head matchup - the first time this poll had shown Clinton below 50 percent in the last year.
Nationwide, Trump is viewed unfavorably by 64 percent of respondents and Clinton is viewed unfavorably by 60 percent, the poll shows, adding that 48 percent of those supporting Clinton were motivated by their opposition toward Trump, while 56 percent of Trump supporters are backing him as an anti-Clinton vote.
The figures come ahead of Trump's expected announcement of a running mate pick later this week while Clinton is also expected to announce her vice president pick soon.
The Quinnipiac University survey was conducted between June 30 and July 11 via landlines and cellphones, with a margin of errors from 3.1 points to 3.2 points, while the McClatchy-Marist poll was conducted among 1,249 from July 5 to 9 with a margin of error to 2.8 percent.
